After purchasing a laser welding machine, one of the questions many customers care about most is:
What happens if the machine breaks down? How does the warranty work?
Many customers assume that a warranty means “any problem will be repaired free of charge.” However, when equipment actually develops a fault, they may find that certain situations are outside the warranty scope, resulting in unnecessary communication and production delays.
This article provides a clear overview of the warranty policy for PDKJ laser welding machines, including the warranty period, covered components, excluded situations, and the information required when submitting a service request.
We recommend saving this guide for future reference.
For laser welding series products sold according to contracts or specifications, PDKJ provides corresponding warranty coverage for defects in product materials and workmanship.
The warranty period starts from the date the equipment leaves the factory.
During the warranty period, if the equipment develops a fault under normal operating conditions and the fault is confirmed to be caused by a defect in the product itself, PDKJ will be responsible for repairing or replacing the defective material or product.
Please note that international shipping, customs clearance fees, and other related costs are borne by the buyer.
The warranty periods may vary depending on the component.
In summary: The laser source is the core component of the complete machine and has the longest warranty period of 24 months. Other major components generally have a 12-month warranty period.
PDKJ's free warranty service mainly covers:
Faults caused by defects in the product's own materials or workmanship when the equipment is operated normally during the warranty period.
If inspection confirms that a fault is caused by a product quality issue, PDKJ will repair or replace the defective material or product according to the actual situation.
When determining whether a particular fault is covered by the warranty, the following factors need to be considered:
Whether the equipment is still within the warranty period;
Whether the equipment has been operated correctly according to the requirements;
Whether the fault was caused by a defect in the product's own materials or workmanship;
Whether the equipment has been disassembled, modified, or repaired without authorization;
Whether the fault was caused by improper operation, abnormal environmental conditions, external force, or other factors.
Understanding these basic conditions helps customers better understand the warranty policy for laser welding machines.
A laser welding machine consists of multiple systems and components, including the laser source, welding gun, optical system, electrical control system, cooling system, and more.
During actual production, some components are normal consumables, while certain faults may be caused by operation, environmental conditions, transportation, or other external factors. These situations are therefore not considered defects in the product's own materials or workmanship.
Some components naturally experience consumption and periodic replacement during welding production.
For example:
Consumables: welding wire, shielding gas, coolant, antifreeze, chiller filters, protective lenses, etc.
Wear parts: protective lenses, focusing lenses, collimating lenses, mirrors, ceramic rings, gas nozzles, nozzles, wire-feed rollers, wire-feed tubes, contact tips, conductive tips, shielding gas flow meter filters, O-rings, sealing rings, fuses, fans, dust filters, etc.
Fiber-related components and accessories: delivery fibers, QBH connectors, QBH end faces, fiber connectors, dust caps, output heads, air hoses, water hoses, brackets, control screens, buttons, emergency stop switches, outer covers, casters, handles, plastic housing components, cable carriers, backup batteries, tools, toolboxes, worktable fixtures, USB drives, and other related items.
These items are not covered under the standard warranty for product material and workmanship defects.
Normal power attenuation and problems caused by the use of non-original accessories are also not covered by the free warranty.
Laser welding machines contain laser sources, control systems, and multiple safety protection functions.
Therefore, when the equipment develops an abnormality, users are advised not to disassemble or modify the equipment themselves.
Damage caused by the following situations is not covered by the warranty:
Unauthorized opening of the laser source housing;
Unauthorized opening of the welding gun housing or control cabinet;
Flashing non-official firmware;
Bypassing or modifying power limitations;
Short-circuiting water flow, air pressure, safety light curtain, or other protection signals;
Repairs performed by unauthorized personnel;
Equipment damage caused by the use of non-original spare parts.
For example, if third-party protective lenses, compatible optical fibers, non-original control boards, or other components cause equipment failure, such damage is not covered by the original manufacturer's free warranty.
Proper operation is an important foundation for maintaining stable laser welding machine performance.
During actual welding, particular attention should be paid to high-reflectivity materials, optical systems, shielding gas, and optical fibers.
For example, when welding highly reflective materials such as copper, aluminum, or brass, welding parameters need to be adjusted appropriately according to the material characteristics.
If improper parameter settings cause back-reflection and damage to the laser source, this is not considered a product quality issue.
The following operations may also cause equipment damage:
Long-term continuous welding at full power beyond the rated duty cycle;
Welding without activating shielding gas;
Touching protective lenses, focusing lenses, or fiber end faces with bare hands;
Using low-quality or contaminated lens-cleaning paper to clean optical components;
Continuing welding without timely cleaning welding spatter, resulting in lens damage or rupture;
Bending the optical fiber below the specified minimum bending radius of 200 mm;
Stepping on or placing heavy loads on the delivery fiber;
Forcing the QBH connector into place without proper alignment;
Operating without the dust cap installed, allowing dust to enter the fiber end face;
Using non-dedicated tools to disassemble the QBH connector;
Arbitrarily modifying equipment parameters or PLC/robot paths.
These situations may affect the normal operation and service life of the equipment.
For laser welding machines equipped with water-cooling systems, proper daily operation and maintenance of the cooling system are equally important.
The equipment should use laser-specific coolant as required. Tap water, mineral water, or automotive antifreeze should not be used as substitutes.
The water tank and related cooling components should also be maintained according to the equipment requirements.
For example:
Failure to replace the coolant for an extended period may cause algae growth and block the water-cooling plate;
Failure to properly drain or use antifreeze during winter may cause internal pipes to freeze and crack;
Continuing to operate the machine when condensation occurs may also affect the laser source.
Therefore, for water-cooled laser welding machines, cooling system maintenance is not simply a matter of “adding water.” It requires proper maintenance according to the equipment manufacturer's requirements.
Laser welding machines have specific requirements for their power supply and operating environment.
If the equipment operates for an extended period under unsuitable electrical or environmental conditions, equipment abnormalities may occur.
Examples include:
Voltage exceeding ±10% of the specified range;
Phase loss;
Improper connection between neutral and ground;
Ground resistance greater than 4 Ω;
Failure to install necessary voltage regulation or surge protection;
Keeping the equipment continuously powered during thunderstorms;
Workshop humidity exceeding 80%;
Excessive dust;
Ambient temperature below 0°C or above 40°C;
Presence of corrosive gases;
Strong electromagnetic interference;
Excessive floor vibration.
Particular attention should be paid to production environments involving cutting, grinding, or other processes that generate significant amounts of dust.
If a laser welding machine is exposed to heavy dust for an extended period, the dust may affect the cooling system and overall equipment operation.
Therefore, maintaining a suitable operating environment is also an important condition for stable laser welding machine performance.
After equipment delivery, improper handling, transportation, or storage may also result in equipment damage.
Examples include:
Excessive tilting during handling;
Dropping the welding gun;
Crushing or breaking water hoses;
Forklift collisions;
Dropping or compression during secondary transportation;
Exposure of the equipment to rain;
Welding slag, metal powder, or cutting fluid entering the control cabinet or laser source;
Secondary damage caused by improper packaging during transportation.
Equipment damage caused by transportation, storage, or external forces is not covered under the standard product quality warranty.
If a fault occurs and written notification is not provided within 14 days, or if the equipment serial number has been damaged and the equipment cannot be verified as having been supplied by PDKJ, warranty rights may be affected.
Purchases made through channels not authorized by PDKJ may also affect warranty eligibility.
At the same time, commitments independently made by distributors or promises exceeding the original manufacturer's warranty policy will not be considered part of PDKJ's warranty obligations.
When a laser welding machine develops an abnormality, providing complete and accurate equipment information to the manufacturer in a timely manner can help the technical team identify the problem more efficiently.
